The Loss of Memory

As loved ones age (like my own mother) they often lose many aspects of their vitality. For those who suffer with Dementia and more severely, Alzheimer's, those around them also suffer from the loss of recognition and shared history with the affected individual. Some people, even experience early onset symptoms of these diseases and don't experience the longevity of older age. Patience is key.

Forgotten

Wounded, falling, full of doubt--
Comprehension turned inside out--
Vaunted Spring now victim to Winter's aim--
Familiar visages unmatched with name--
Thoughtful gaze tarnished in fractured glass--
The essence of memory is fading fast.
