For writers, composing words can be a spiritual experience inwardly, but without the reader their words gain no outward value.

When a writer shares their words with others, the author gains pride from sharing the product of creativity and the serious reader takes that effort into their mind and may wade into the writer's world with their own enthusiasm, appreciation, and interpretation.

The Reader

Through your eyes
Words infiltrate
And in your vessel
They take shape
While pages turn
And claim the mind
Imaginations intertwine.

When we take in knowledge, it becomes a part of how we process other information; each bit we gather is prioritized or tucked away, and it may (or may not) resurface when we need it. It may also present when we least expect it.

Who we become as people is drawn from many different sources, and what we produce as people is influenced by a myriad of experiences.

The Library

     Inside the brain
     Unending shelves
     Arranged in ways
     Known by thyself

     The spines of knowledge
     Bound with age
     New thoughts birthed
     On the fledgling page

     The words pervade
     Each cherished tome--
     Influence locked
     Within your bones.

Happy New Year!

Renewal

Picture

I am swept across the cosmic threshold
From one second to the next tick
As countless clocks sync and sanction
Calendars unsealed with anticipation
Fireworks sparked with rekindled kisses
And dominoes that fall in waves of genuflection
Across continents and countless cultures.
