I spent two great years at school in New Orleans at Xavier University of Louisiana. The charm of the city is like no other.

New Orleans
Down on the Mississippi
The paddle wheels spin,
The second line plays,
The gators all grin
From city street to bayou
They all show great pride--
The cheer is a lagniappe,
The Saints march in stride.
Cajun and Creole chefs
Serve up the etouffee,
Boil the crawdads--
Construct the beignets.
Tell me, can you feel it?
That groove sho is neat;
I’m snappin’ my fingers
To dat ole Jazz beat!
The krewes parade floats
When the sun is all bright--
Celebrate in the Quarter
While the Moon shines a light.
Tappety-tap-tap!
See those slick feet?
Young brown hoofers amaze
Down on Bourbon Street.
Show us the goods, baby!
We’ll throw you some beads--
When the Mardi Gras ends
You’ll repent all your deeds!
Can you hear the Big Easy
Singin’ that sweet song?
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
—All the night long.
