At this time, our families and friends prepare to say thanks for what they are grateful for in life. Although there has been some loss in our lives, there has also been gain. Hope is the best gain. Not everyone is in the best place emotionally during the holidays, but even the poorest of us has something to be grateful for, no matter how small. If you are reading this, be as grateful to do so, as I am to be able to write it. I certainly am thankful for you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. ~Danielle G. |
and each night that falls, I greet even more
Just knowing that there are dreams to yet come--
I wait with high hopes for the bloom of each one
even if what we believe flows from a different river.
I hold tightly to the wonder in the air that I breathe
The freedom that others have yet to receive,
The promise of minds that bridge a divide
I welcome the possibilities of the other side
to gather our children in the pureness of thought.
I value the shelter of home, the warmth of true love
The life of all those who inspire the dove
The birth of my children, the presence of grace
The raindrops that fall on the palliative face
of a statue in the sacred garden of a giver.
I often feel pain and can somehow forgive;
Possess a heart that can overcome darkness and live.
I have tasted the fruit of the greatest of pleasures--
I enjoy Nature’s gifts; the simplest of treasures
like embracing family and friends without being bought.
All of creation, imagination—the muse and mind’s choice.
The lifting of song in a harmonically merged voice
The new opening of eyes nearly hushed by disease
The pride of accomplishment; triumph achieved
after hardship and doubt are both slain—battle won.
I have so much in life to be grateful for
and each day that dawns, I greet even more
Just knowing that there are blessings still to come--
I wait with high hopes for the bloom of each one
even if I pull the covers over my head at the sun.
